Strategies to Combat the Nation’s Tough Economy in Your Home
International Expo & Conference Comes to Central Illinois
BLOOMINGTON - October 6, 2008 - Now more than ever, families are working to figure out how to make ends meet or even how to just bring in some supplemental income to cover the increasing cost of living. H Jones Productions has the solutions all under one roof during the Work at Home Mom Conference and Expo. Executive Director, Holly Jones Cunningham shares the following tips for individuals and families:
Tip One: Identify a Work at Home Opportunity that Allows You to Continue Your Other Activities
Moms have different personalities, likes and dislikes but one thing is sure: many of them are looking for at-home work, especially now, during a tough economy. This specialized event is here to help with a large array of different types of business and opportunities. There will be over 220 companies from all over the US and Canada sharing information on their work-at-home opportunities. Participants can ask questions, gain insight and learn more about each of the businesses that offer at-home work opportunities. Here are some of the different opportunities participants will be able to explore:
- Employment opportunities with national companies that seek individuals to work out of their home
- Business opportunities with national companies that seek individuals that want to start their own franchise
- Business opportunities with national multi-level-marketing companies
Visit www.wahmjobfair.com to see details on all of the companies that will be sharing work or business opportunities.
Tip Two: Identify How to Work Smarter Rather than Harder
The old adage holds true “Time is Money.” We have all known for years that taking a lot of time to get something done was not really a good way to use your time. Now more than ever, it is important to make the most of your time. You'll have a chance to talk with investment experts, business planners, attend "how to" clinics and workshops, participate in panels, and discover ways to save precious time and get organized. Learn how to do this by attending the many presentations and mini-workshops scheduled during the conference.
Tip Three: Network Now More than Ever and Reach Out to Your Peer Group
As Dr. Ivan Misner stated recently “By sticking together and helping one another, we can face down the doom and gloom; we can build our businesses despite the headlines; and, we can show others around the world the economic power of persistent, skillful, and generous networking.” The worst time to withdraw and “go it alone” is during an economic downturn. Get out and network with other business people so that you have better and stronger connections to reach out to help and that can help you in return. It's in tough times that your peers need you and you need them. Together you can keep your focus on the positive, on what you can do to move forward towards your goals, and to hold each other accountable for any "stinking thinking".
Of course this assumes that you have a positive peer group of doers. If not, do whatever it takes to create one. Whether that be join your local business club, or attend the WAHM Conference and Expo on October 11 and network with thousands of the nicest people you'll ever meet or join one of the online communities that the event exhibitors offer. You need to get yourself around positive and ambitious doers.
Tip Four: Save Gas and Shop Smart – The Fewer Stops You Make the More Money You Save on Gas
As a mother of 7 children from 18 to 2.5 years old, show producer Holly Jones Cunningham understands the need for moms to locate a helpful and useful venue for shopping; especially prior to the holidays! Moms, grandmothers and moms-to-be will find just such a place and spend their dollars where it counts – in support of other moms. From toys and books, jewelry and cosmetics, health products and treats and sweets galore – this event promises to offer something for every gift recipient on your list. Most exhibitors are offering special pricing for event participants.
Tip Five: Get Items at Low or No Cost
- 250 Mommy Posh bags stuffed to the brim with great items will be given away to the first 250 participants at the door.
- Over 300 items have been collected for door prizes and they will all be given away throughout the day – none of them valued less than $50
- Most of the exhibitors are bringing samples of their products for you to try
WAHM Expo and Conference is Not Your Average Expo – What Sets it Apart
- This conference and expo is produced by a mom of SEVEN children – she knows the challenge of raising a family on a tight budget.
- Floor plan has been designed to accommodate ease of walking with strollers or wheelchairs.
- Cushioned floors to save you from foot and back pain
- It is the only event of its kind in the nation to bring work-at-home opportunities to you all in one place
- Companies from as far as New York and Canada are traveling to Central Illinois to talk to you
- Many businesses that do not have a representation in Illinois are looking to open markets here
